The plot was something that I don’t think I have come across before added with the two main protagonists and this made for a thrilling read that would keep you up at night wondering what your neighbours really get up to when you’re not watching. This book was written in a way that created interest from the beginning and then captivated me to keep going and not put this down until I had finished. This was mainly because of the excerpts of his past between chapters. Now this is where I struggle to separate my feelings, I know that I should really dislike him, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
At first I found reading her name slightly annoying, however I really warmed to her and was fully rooting for her to be believed.
So let’s begin with the characters, I really felt for Hen, she had a stressful past and this was constantly held against her and exploited by Matthew. He kept one souvenir – the fencing trophy – so maybe he kept more. Hen knows this because she’s had a long obsession with this unsolved murder, one which she no longer talks about, but can’t shake off either.Ĭould her neighbour, Matthew, be a killer?
